This Friday's Featured Crafter is Keith of Mindless Pursuits. Following is an interview:
What is your craft?
I create original works of art using oil and/or acrylic paints. In addition, I sew custom clothing, costumes and accessories such as purses.
How long have you been working in your craft?
I have been painting for about 25 years though I had a significant break from it until recently. I have been sewing for about 5 years.
What inspires you?
I am most inspired by nature. I love cherry blossoms, flowers in general and adore landscapes, having been a landscape photographer for many years.
Who inspires you?
My family always inspires me because my little girls love to try new clothes and my older nieces enjoy my sense of clothing and accessories. If only men could get away with some of these fashions!
On an average, how much time do you spend creating an item?
For a painting, it can range from 20 minutes for a quick flower 5x7 up to many hours for a larger landscape. In my sewing, the range can go from an hour up to many days but a lot of that time is because I also work a full-time job!
Out of all the items you have created which one is your favorite and why?
Out of everything I have created, my favorite is my first 'Birds and Cherry Blossoms' acrylic painting. It's simple in design, yet beautiful on a wall, and perfectly matches my mood when creating: calm and soothing. In a way, I hope it never sells but at the same time, I want to share it with everyone!
